Emi Electra is an interdisciplinary artist with a BFA in Sculpture from SUNY Purchase and an MFA in Film from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is currently working in Buffalo NY as a writer, director, production designer, and experimental visual artist. She has studied and screened work internationally, having completed the Arts, Religion, and Social Change program at SIT Study Abroad Bali, and attended Nes Artist Residency in Skagaströnd, Iceland.
Emily makes surreal films that bend the mind with twisted plotlines and explosive imagery, employing a signature visual style that is trademarked by atmospheric lighting and unearthly costumes and settings, all constructed by hand. Her work is occult in the sense that it reveals that which is hidden, speaking directly to the unconscious via symbol and metaphor, color and sound.
